A few quick answers help us match you with the right service.
Getting Started
Do you service my area?
KC Disposal provides service across several communities in the Kansas City metro, including:
- Blue Springs
- Edwardsville
- Gardner
- Gladstone
- Grain Valley
- Grandview
- Lee’s Summit
- Lenexa
- Merriam
- Overland Park
- Raytown
- Shawnee
We also provide yard waste subscription service in Kansas City, MO. Availability may depend on your exact address. Use the Set Up Service form for regular pickup or the custom service request form for a larger or less straightforward disposal need, and our team will confirm what is available before service begins.
Can I switch to KC Disposal from another trash company?
You can. Just share your address, the services you need, and when you’d like to start. We’ll confirm your route and first pickup date. That way, there’s no gap between your old service ending and ours beginning.
Can I use a container from my previous trash company?
You won’t be able to use an old container. That container belongs to your old hauler, not to you, so we’re not able to service it. We’ll get you set up with your own KC Disposal cart before your first pickup.
Schedule & Support
Are you closed for the holidays?
We’re closed on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If one of those falls on a weekday, your pickup that week moves back one day. If it falls on a weekend, nothing changes.
What happens if my pickup is missed?
If your trash or recycling is still at the curb after your scheduled pickup, report it through our missed-pickup form, and we’ll get it picked up the next business day. During a holiday week, that same rule applies: if your pickup shifts because of the holiday, a miss on that shifted day still gets caught the day after.
What are your customer service hours?
Our office is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.). Prefer not to call? Chat with us online from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday.
What happens after I sign up for service?
Once you submit your service request, our team confirms your address, walks you through the setup that fits your home, and lets you know your pickup day before your first collection.
Trash & Recycling
Do you recycle?
Yes, we do recycle and pick up recycling. In the Kansas cities we service, recycling comes bundled with your residential trash service. In Missouri, recycling is available to add on top of your base trash service, at your choice.
How often do you collect my trash?
Trash pickup runs once a week, on the same scheduled day for your address. This will vary based on your city and chosen pickup date.
How much trash can I put out each week?
That depends on your cart size. A 65-gallon cart holds about 5 kitchen bags; a 95-gallon cart holds about 7. However, the real ceiling is whatever fits with the lid fully closed. If you’re consistently going over, an overage sticker covers the extra bags instead of leaving them at the curb unpicked.
What time should I put my trash out?
Have everything at the curb by 6 a.m. on your pickup day. Setting it out the night before can prevent a pickup day mishap. Trucks run early, and anything set out after the crew’s already come through has to wait for next week.
Is there anything I shouldn’t put in my trash container?
Keep dirt, sand, rock, and other heavy material out of your cart. That’s the kind of weight that tears a bag apart before pickup. Bag things at around 33 gallons and 60 pounds or less. Your back, and ours, will thank you.
Billing & Payments
How often do you bill for services?
We bill quarterly, which means you’ll receive one bill every 3 months.
How can I make my payment?
You can pay online with a debit or credit card, set up automatic payments, call 816-388-9739 to pay by phone, or mail a check to the KC Disposal office.
What’s included in my price?
Pricing works differently on each side of the state line. In our Kansas cities, trash, recycling, and yard waste all come bundled into one service. That’s tied to the permits we hold in Johnson County, not something we add to increase your bill.
Because of that, the price stays the same whether or not you actually use the yard waste pickup; the bundle is the service.
In our Missouri cities, trash is a required base service, and recycling and yard waste are both optional add-ons you choose. Your price reflects whichever ones you’ve added.
Bulk Items & Dumpsters
What’s the difference between bulk item pickup, bulk item drop-off, and a roll-off dumpster?
Bulk item pickup means we come to your curb for a single large item, like a couch or mattress. Bulk item drop-off means you bring accepted items to our Edwardsville site yourself.
A roll-off dumpster is for bigger jobs like:
- Cleanouts
- Renovations
- Multiple items at once
It stays at your property until you’re done with it.
HOA & Property Management
Do you offer service for HOAs, and who should request the quote?
Yes, we work with HOAs across our service area. Either your board can reach out directly, or your property management company can request the quote on your community’s behalf.
Can businesses set up service with KC Disposal?
We work with businesses across the Kansas City metro, from small offices to multi-unit properties. Share your business type, address, and how much waste you’re dealing with, and our team can recommend the right container and pickup schedule before service starts.
